John Arnold Wheeldon, 80, of Lafayette, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville.
He was born December 31, 1943, in Monon to the late Virgil and Bonnie (Harris) Wheeldon. He earned his GED and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably from June 1961 until June 1964. His first marriage was to Marilyn Satchewell, who survives. On August 22, 1980, he married Lee Goldie Bowman, and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2017.
John worked as a general foreman for Chemtron, Alloy Rods, and Sun Chemical until his retirement
John was an ornery gentleman with a big personality. He loved his family and grandchildren and enjoyed watching television, especially "Mayberry". Always the foreman, he took pleasure in watching and advising others while they worked. He also appreciated great food.
John is survived by his 2 sons, Stephen (Annie) Wheeldon and Kenny (Lisa) Wheeldon; 6 grandchildren, Kayla Wheeldon, Steve Wheeldon, Christy Welch, Michael Welch, Kendra Flory, and April Mossburg; a great-grandson, Aiden Heavilon; and 4 siblings, Dave (Dixie) Wheeldon, Thelma Collard, Wayne (Mary) Wheeldon, and Carlene (Roger) Winger.
Along with his wife, Lee and his parents, Virgil and Bonnie, John was preceded by 3 siblings, Tom Wheeldon, Ted Wheeldon, and Syliva Hammond.
John will be interred next to his wife Lee at Meadow View Cemetery at 10:00 am, on January 2, 2024.
