John Clifford Widder, age 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Chambersburg, PA on October 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Vernon C. and Cornelia Hoffeditz Widder.
John was a graduate of Hagerstown Junior College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. John began his career working at the former J. Schoenaman Company and went on to serve his internship with the former Landis Machine Company. He later was employed by Gibbles Chips and the former Grove Manufacturing for over 20 years, before moving on to work for Government Contractors. John enjoyed working, electronics, and chatting with anyone who would listen. He was a member of Heidelberg Church, where he served as an Elder and Deacon and was also a member of the Kauffman Ruritan for over 50 years.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Blossom Jane Nowell Widder, whom he married on September 14, 1968; three sons, Benjamin L. Widder (wife Cindy) of Chambersburg, PA, Mark W. Widder (wife Jean) of Greencastle, PA, and Matthew L. Widder (wife Emily) of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren, Brock, Kiersten, Paige, Ashley, and Lincoln Widder; two siblings, Lucinda "Cindy" Custer of Chambersburg, PA and Roy Widder (wife Katrina) of Greencastle, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 11 AM at Heidelberg Church, 166 Colorado St., Marion, PA 17235, where Pastors David Riley and Matthew Widder will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the above church and address. Interment will follow the service in Brown's Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Heidelberg Church, 166 Colorado St., Marion, PA 17235. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
