I've known John since High School when our parents dated for a while and we played HS hockey and often hung out together, sometime getting in to trouble or barely staying out of it. He was a familiar face when I first went to Japan in the US Navy and he was on the USS Midway there. He introduced me to his Japanese friends and hang outs. Unfortunately later on in life we lost touch but knew of each others whereabouts through friends and social media. His death has saddened many of his classmates and myself. My sincere condolences go out to his entire extended family and friends. Gone too soon and missed by many.

Imagine the awkward guy years between 1st grade and 8th grade. We had a small group of guys who shared the tails and failures of ideas, trials, thoughts and fantasies about the world we did not know at the time. John (buck), Bob (digrigs), Bruce (tree), Dadak (fill in the blanks), Dave (sid), Vincent, myself and a bunch of others spent time in their cellar/play room trying to determine how to sort it all out. We never solved those mysteries, but we all grew closer through it all. We did accomplish the ability to share the stuff we never understood and development friendships that have always connect us to our past. Buck was a crazy part of this and his unique approach and words has contributed to getting us through more stuff than we all know.
I hope that my words bring some comfort to his family knowing that Buck lived in a way that few people will ever experience through his personality, friendships, and energy. Rest well my friend

First day of 1st grade. Mrs. O'brien's class. Front room. First room on the right.
Brother you wore a yellow rain coat. You always were willing to play left D. Let me play right. Always had my side. Sorry to miss your reach out a few months ago. Peace to you. Love you, Buck. Tree

I will never forget when John came into the office with what he claimed was an X Ray of his head with a nail in it. Of course, it came with a story. To this day, was it true? Or was he trying to make his Code 20 family laugh/smile as he always did. John, we will miss you, but know you will be making some angel smile. Love, Rebecca Rowe
