John Raymond Williams, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025, with his loving family by his side at Freedom Village – West Brandywine. A man of extraordinary integrity, devotion, and quiet strength, he dedicated his life to his wife, children, and community. He was the cherished husband of Patricia Ann (Scollick) Williams, who passed away just this past May. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved "angel from heaven." This August would have marked their 68th wedding anniversary - a testament to their lifelong friendship and love story.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 20, 1931, Ray was the son of the late Clyde R. and Janet Curley Williams. A proud graduate of Oliver High School, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Duquesne University and remained an active alumnus throughout his life. Ray served stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict with quiet patriotism and pride.
Ray built a highly successful 38-year career at American Standard, rising through the ranks with unwavering dedication and earning numerous national sales achievement awards. Yet, his greatest legacy wasn't in boardrooms or sales records - it was the family he built with Pat. Together, they raised nine children and created a home full of love, respect, laughter, and values that shaped generations.
Ray gave his all to his family - he made his children feel like a gift, never a sacrifice. He led by example, living the motto "Do as I do," modeling the honesty, humility, and loyalty he believed in. Every summer, he and Pat would pack up their nine children into the family station wagon and set off on surprise vacations - moments of joy and adventure that his children still treasure today.
Despite the demands of his career, Ray always found time to be present. He volunteered for Boy Scouts, coached Little League, and offered helping hands and wisdom wherever it was needed. His greatest pride was watching all nine of his children pursue college degrees - several earning master's degrees - proving his deep belief in education, hard work, and the power of perseverance.
A devout Catholic, Ray lived his faith through service. He and Pat were active parishioners throughout their lives, most recently at St. Elizabeth's Parish in Chester Springs, where Ray frequently volunteered his time and talents. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and generously gave of himself to organizations including Good Works, Inc., the Lord's Pantry, and the Coatesville VA Medical Center. He also served in the Veterans Club at Maris Grove, offering support and camaraderie to fellow veterans.
To his children, Ray was not just a father - he was a compass, a steady hand, and a quiet hero. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was a source of wisdom and warmth. And to his wife Pat, he was a lifelong partner who honored her daily, never raising his voice, always showing respect, and affectionately calling her his "angel from heaven." Their love story set a powerful example of what it means to love, honor, and cherish.
