Oakdale-Homegoing services honoring John Roxy Yates, 86, will be held at 1 o'clock p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at First United Pentecostal Church in Oakdale. Rev. Tim Kelley will officiate. John will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery in Oakdale immediately following his services.
John's family will receive friends and visitors at First United Pentecostal Church in Oakdale on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 10 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of John's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.
John was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a faithful husband to his wife Joan Chapman Yates for 39 years. John was a man of strong faith and faithful member of First United Pentecostal Church in Oakdale where he attended church regularly, loved to worship the Lord, and helped in maintaining the cleanliness of the church. John served his country in the United States Army in 1956. He worked for Boise Cascade in Oakdale for 20 plus years. He then went to work at Wal-Mart in Oakdale where he worked in the custodial department. John was a kind and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish John's memory include his wife, Joan Chapman Yates; one son, Glenn Seaman, and wife Nell; one daughter in law, Carol Seaman; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Guy, and Nora L. Swepston Yates; two sons, John Michael Yates, and Ralph Seaman; and one daughter, Karen Michelle Yates.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Scotty Jarnigan, L.C. Coker, Russel LeBlanc, Shanky O'Neil, Jerry Rider, and Scott Willis.
