John Joseph Zachwieja, age 73, of the Academy Gardens section Philadelphia, PA passed awayafter a long battle with cancer on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was the beloved husband of 23 years to Dale (Burton). He is survived by his children Shawn Zachwieja, Tina Cruz (Albert), and stepson Stephen Chichetti (Angela). He leaves behind five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

John was the son of Albert (deceased) and Margaret Zachwieja, the brother of Albert (Peggy), Ed (Denise), Joseph (deceased), (Nancy) and Leo (Marianne). Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends will also sadly miss him.

John served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Dewey and other naval battle ships during the Vietnam War.He worked at the American Packaging Company and the Franklin Institute as an Engineer for 47 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday January 6th at 9:30 AM in Saint Dominic's Church 8504 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136,immediately followed by his funeral mass at 10:30 AM at Saint Dominic's Church.Intermentwill immediately follow at 2 PM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery Newtown, PA.
