It is with saddened hearts we share that John James Zeitler, "Pops", passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the age of 91. He was born on October 31, 1933 (a birthday he shared with his son and granddaughter) to his parents John and Violet Zeitler in Chicago, IL. John grew up with his brother, Ron and his sister, Judy. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957. In 1959, he married his beloved, Trudy (Prescher).
He had a long career in the HVAC field. In his spare time, he enjoyed dog training, hunting, and skeet/trap shooting. "Pops" was most well-known for being the #1 fan at all of his grandkids' sporting events and activities. He also attended as many of the Sycamore Spartan football games as he could.
He was full of life and loved his family and his dogs. Every dog he came across on a regular basis knew he had treats in his pocket. He would chat with anyone and everyone and had a great sense of humor.
John had a quiet but firm faith in his Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ. He always had a devotional on hand and knew his Creator well. He is resting peacefully in His care now, free of sickness and rejoicing with his Savior.
John is survived by his four children, Sharon (Marve) Farber, Steve (Greg), Scott (Laura), and Randy (Kim), seven grandchildren, Julie (Adam) Pyle, Amy (Brian) Miller, Christina, John, Jillian, Kara, and Lydia, four great grandchildren, Isaiah, Logan, Grace, and Alex, his sister in law Cathy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, and wife.
We are grateful and blessed for the years we shared with him and he will be truly missed.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service 12:00 noon at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes and Crematory, 516 S. Washington St. Naperville. Interment to follow at the Naperville Cemetery. Memorials in John's memory may be made to Grace Pointe Church, 1320 Chicago Ave. Naperville, IL. 60540.
