John R. Zweck, age 46 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, December 1, 2024, at his home in Highland, IL.
He was born on Friday, September 1, 1978, in Highland, IL, the son of Onis and Carol (nee Riggs) Zweck.
He was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ, former Church Council Member; Heritage Hall Building Committee; Strawberry Festival Committee; Alumni Board @ McKendree University; Phi Theta Kappa; Alpha Phi Omega; Concert Choir while at the University; Sons of the American Legion-Post 665 St. Jacob (current Commander); VFW Auxiliary Post 5694-Highland (current Commander); Triad High School Security Team Leader..
John was born at Highland and grew up there, graduating from Highland High School in 1997. He was confirmed at the St. Jacob United Church of Christ. John earned a Associates Degree, with Honors, from South West Illinois College and went on to graduate with Honors from McKendree University in 2004. John followed several career paths before becoming a Permanent Substitute Teacher at Triad HS. He has been there for over ten years. He enjoyed leading the Security Team and summer custodial work at Triad. The St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Kansas City Chiefs were his favorite athletic teams. As a past time, John listened to music, researched a variety of topics on line and watched movies and sports on TV.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in Saint Jacob, IL.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in Saint Jacob, IL.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
