Johnnie Garrell Obituary
Johnnie Willard Garrell, 66, of Cerro Gordo, met the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2024, while in the Novant Brunswick Hospital in Bolivia, NC.
Johnnie was born on January 7, 1958, son of the late Jessie Willard Garrell and Mary Hammonds Garrell. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Dale Coleman and Magnolia Sasser, and his father-in-law, Jack Blackwell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from the Worthington Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 2:00-2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.
For 46 years, Johnnie faithfully worked with the Asplundh Tree Company. His legacy will live on in the heart and minds of everyone he interacted with, as well as those he reached but never met. His sense of humor to heal hearts, he knew what mattered the most. The good Lord and family meant everything to him.
Johnnie leaves behind to cherish his memory with his loving wife of 40 years, Jackie Blackwell Garrell; a daughter, JoLynn Garrell Holley (Monk to her daddy and the shine in his eyes) and her husband, Kaylib, of Cerro Gordo; papa has two most beloved granddaughters, KayLynn Holley and Jacklen Holley; his mother-in-law (Ma), Carrie Powell Blackwell of Cerro Gordo; his beloved and dedicated fur son, Red, Jr. (known mainly as RJ); a brother, Bobby Dale Garrell of Chinquapin, NC.
