Johnnie Frances Higginbotham (Wallace), born on May 21, 1931, in Campbell, TX, to Claude Collin Wallace and Nancy Leona Fox Wallace, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. She was one of seven siblings and a proud member of the Wallace and Fox families, who have been settled in Hunt County since 1870. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery in Campbell, Texas.
Johnnie graduated from Campbell High School in 1949, where she shined as a star basketball player. On May 19, 1950, she married Claudius Ladell Higginbotham. Their marriage, which spanned 74 wonderful years, was a testament to their unwavering love and commitment.
She was a devoted mother to Cladius Ladell Higginbotham Jr. (Janet), Donna Ross, and Kelly Stewart (Michael). Johnnie's legacy continues through her nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings, Gary Wallace (Linda) and Paula White (Ronnie).
Johnnie had a remarkable career, working various jobs at Henson's, Shirey's, and Piggly Wiggly in Greenville. In 1960, she joined Temco (now L3-Harris) where she made a lasting impact over 33 years of service, retiring as Supervisor of Engineering Pilot Assembly. Johnnie was also known for being an exceptional cook, delighting her family and friends with her delicious country dishes.
Johnnie's warmth, dedication, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
