Johnnie Mae Wider was born August 31, 1965, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved and oldest of five children. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
Johnnie Mae, affectionately called Mae, accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, and was baptized at St Phillip AME Church in Eastover, South Carolina. She was educated in the public schools of Richland County and graduated from C. A. Johnson High School in the class of 1983.
Johnnie Mae will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friends. Not only was Mae the matriarch of her family, but she also took on that role within her community. She was always the life of the party and extremely loving.
Johnnie Mae was an outstanding worker in the Health Care field where she served and helped many people for many years. She enjoyed cooking, being with family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Ms. Wider was preceded in death by her parents, Leola Myers Wider and John Wesley Moore.
Those left to cherish fond and precious memories of Johnnie Mae are her loving children, Donneatte Wider and Janette Wider-Jackson; five grandchildren, Daniel Jackson III, Trevon Jackson, Zahari Weldon, Christian Weldon and Ryan Weldon; a special daughter Levinia Harris McCoy; a special niece, VaDasha Wider; three brothers, Willie Wider, Vidal Wider and Johnathan Moore; one sister, Kimyatta Moore Hubbard; a host of loving nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
