Johnny Caudill

Johnny Caudill, known affectionately as "Poppy" to his loved ones, passed away at the age of 77 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Norton Clark Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on March 18, 1948, in Perry County, Kentucky, Johnny was the cherished son of the late Fred Caudill and Laura (Burton) Caudill Spicer.
In his early years, he proudly served the community as an Austin Police Officer. Johnny spent 18 years working at Cummins Engine, he later led him to establish Caudill's Auto Sales in Austin. He loved camping at Hardy Lake and loved making people smile.
Johnny's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Shirley (Spicer) Caudill, who has been his partner in life's journey. He is also survived by his daughter, Darlene Burns, and his son, Steven Caudill, sisters, Louise Vanover and Ruby Elam. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dakota Deskins, Rhinnon Deskins, Logan Caudill, and Vanessa Arevalos. Preceding him in death were his daughter, Pamela F. Burns, and his siblings, Henry Caudill, Opal Hale, Monty Caudill, Junior Caudill, and Dale Caudill.
A funeral service to honor Johnny's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 12 to 2 pm on the same day at the funeral home.
