Richard Lynn Smith, passed away at the age of 65 on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Norton Scott Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. Born on June 13, 1960, in Scottsburg, Richard was the beloved son of the late Vollie Smith and Vernice (Moore) Smith.
A proud graduate of the Austin High School Class of 1978.
Survives include, his wife, Kimberly Smith, his children, Chanda Darleen Smith of Arizona, Kasey Gunter of Lexington, Indiana, and Richard Aaron Smith of Texas, sisters, Shirley (Robert) Thomas Glenna Hendricks, Juanita Watts, brother-in-law Mike Stamper and sister-in-law Sherry Smith. His six grandchildren, Rowan Dallas, Braze Maverick, Roselynn Jane, Lillian Kay, Matthew G. Scott, and Kasen Owen, were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Ernest and Aaron Smith, and Brenda Stamper.
The funeral service to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana with cremation to follow. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather for visitation from 12 to 1 pm on the same day at Buchanan Funeral Home.
