Johnny Doyal

Johnny C. Doyal, age 72, of Cove, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of Sunday, June 15, 2025. He was born on Wednesday, August 31, 1952, to Jay and Mary Johnson Doyal in Chadron, Nebraska.
Johnny was a hardworking and stoic man, known for his quiet dignity, deep respect for others, and unwavering devotion to his family. As the longtime owner of Cove Salvage, which he proudly operated alongside his father, Johnny embodied a strong work ethic and took immense pride in running his own business. Johnny served on the school board for twenty years in Cove and later helped build the Cossatot River Schools. He had a deep love for the outdoors, animals, and the simple pleasures of life-whether elk or pheasant hunting, cutting grass, or tinkering in the shop. Johnny and his wife, Vicki, enjoyed traveling together and both loved to go out dancing anytime they could. He especially enjoyed hunting with dogs, playing cards, and traveling with his son. Johnny loved to watch westerns as well as read Louis L'amour books. He also enjoyed going to the cattle shows and sales out of state with his wife. Johnny cherished time spent with his sons and grandchildren, showing them the same care and love that defined his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Charlie Doyal.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Vicki Doyal of Cove; two sons and daughter in law, Charlie and Amanda Doyal of Mena, and Chris Doyal of Houston; three step children, Clint Cheek of Sunnyvale, Texas, Valerie Cheek of Little Rock, Lucas and Dora Cheek of Claremore, Oklahoma; his brother and sister in law, Ronny and Nelda Doyal of Huffman, Texas; eight grandchildren, Allison Doyal, Jackson Doyal, Kennedy Doyal, Abilene Cheek, Jack Cheek, Nolan Cheek, James Cheek, Philomena Cheek; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena, Arkansas with Brother Jim Tennery officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove, Arkansas under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena, Arkansas. There will be general visitation from 12:00 - 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Pallbearers will be Roger Judkins, Dwight Powell, Danny Richardson, Bruce Cureton, Larry Gross, and TC Broach.
A benefit will be held for Johnny Doyal on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Vandervoort Community Building in Vandervoort, Arkansas. Benefit will include food, raffle, silent auction, and poker tournament, all donations appreciated.
