Johnny Alton Martin, known to some as "Fat Cat," passed away on April 28, 2025, at the age of 69 following a battle with prostate cancer.
A proud truck driver and friend to many, Johnny was known for his big heart, sharp wit, and the ability to make everyone feel like family. He never met a stranger-only friends hadn't met yet.
Though he had no biological children, Johnny built a family through friendship and love. He is survived by his "adopted" daughter, Amanda Davis, whom he cherished and proudly claimed as his own; Bruce Hall, his best friend and chosen brother, who opened his home and heart to Johnny when he needed it most; Robert Rhodes, a close friend and caregiver in his final months; and many more dear friends who were like family. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Johnny had a heart bigger than most. He was the kind of man who would truly give you the shirt off his back, and countless people were touched by his generosity, loyalty, and quick wit. His presence could fill a room, and his laugh was unforgettable. Whether he was cracking a joke, lending a hand, or spinning a tall tale, Johnny made everyone feel like family-and the bonds he built were the kind that lasted a lifetime.
Cremation arrangements are underway, and a memorial will be held at a later date.
He will be missed more than words can say-but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Dalton Funeral Home to help cover the funeral expenses.
