Johnny Stevens Ortiz, loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, and beloved papaw, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 26, 2023. He was born on April 12, 1969, in Temple, Texas to his parents Ruben Ortiz and Alice Ortiz.
Johnny graduated from Troy High School in 1987 and went on to lead a remarkable life. He was driven by a strong work ethic and held various positions throughout his career. Most recently, Johnny worked as a Cap Fleet Upfitter from October 1, 2018 until the time of his passing. Prior to that, he worked at Emporium Packaging Spice Company in 2016 and McLane Company in 2014. From 2007 to 2013, he was a Saw Operator at TMS Hydraulics.
Although Johnny was highly dedicated to his profession, he found joy in numerous hobbies and interests. He had a knack for cooking and enjoyed hosting family barbecues where he would showcase his culinary skills. Johnny also found solace in the art of landscaping, taking great pride in shaping his own outdoor spaces. However, above all else, he treasured spending quality time with his family and friends.
A kind-hearted soul with a warm and welcoming personality, Johnny had an incredible bond with his grandchildren. They held a special place in his heart and he would spend hours playing with them, creating beautiful memories that will forever be cherished.
Johnny's proudest accomplishment in life was being a wonderful father and a doting grandfather. His love for his children and his grandchildren knew no bounds and their presence brought immense joy to his days.
Johnny will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his beloved wife Lisa Ortiz of Troy, Texas; mother Alice Ortiz of Temple, Texas; two sons: Kacey Ortiz and wife Rachel, of College Station and Hank Mayes of Moffat; two daughters: Courteney Dick and husband Trevor of Troy and Brooke Owens and husband Kyle of Valley Mills, as well as his grandchildren, Kyler, Emmarie, Khylin, Ryllie, Kaylee, Kelsie, Pyke, Taylor, and Blaersyn.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ruben Ortiz, and two granddaughters, Brookelynn and Jazmen.
In addition to his surviving family, Johnny leaves behind a community of friends and colleagues whose lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A rosary will be recited from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
On Wednesday January 3, 2024, a catholic funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. at Crotty Funeral Home with Father Ranjan Cletus officiating Following services, Johnny will be laid to rest in Oenaville Cemetery in Troy, Texas.
Johnny's departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us. May he find eternal peace, knowing that he made a lasting impact on the lives of all those he loved and cared for.
