Johnny graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1981. He was a good friend to many. Johnny was always helpful to anyone that needed a hand. He enjoyed watching sports, spending time with his family and visiting his mother in Puerto Rico.
He was a great father, husband, son and brother to his siblings. Johnny worked at Methodist Hospital for many years and made many friends there. he was resourceful in his ability when it came to helping others. He embraced many people from highs to lows with a willing heart of gold.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ruben Sr., his brother, Ruben, Jr. and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Mirta; daughter, Adriana; son, Johnny Jr.; mother, Aida; sister, Maria (Jerry), brother, Israel (Sharon); niece, Roletta (Robert); nephews, Aaron and Isaiah.
Johnny was a true angel on earth and he will be forever missed.
Visitation Thursday, February 22, 2024, 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with Visitation Friday, February 23, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Services 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment immediately following services from Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road.

I knew Johnny for many years as a coworker and a friend . He was one of the hardest working men I have ever known. He was also a cerebral man who thought about world events and the state of the nation. We often had conversations about sports and he was well versed in the politics of the day. He will be truly missed. Sleep on my brother, I will see you in the afterlife!

My oh my, Johnny. This really hits hard for me. I just saw you in November and was so happy to thank you for all you did for my grandmother. Every time I would come into town you would always be like, "Hey, Nee-Nee!" You were always so kind and so generous to our family. The things you did for our block were impeccable. You always kept the yards so neat and clean. Johnny, my grandma loved you so dearly and so does our family. I want to extend my deepest condolences to Mirta, Jay Jay and Boo. I remember one time I had flat and it was cold as heck out and he changed the tire and he would not take one dime. I just talked to him last month I told him I was going to some grilling for him he said I´ll be there. He will always be in my heart. Johnny was genuinely a nice guy

Johnny was a quiet student and an all around guy. He would speak to if you spoke to him. We lived in the neighborhood throughout our lives. He lives in an immaculate home and he kept the empty fields as nice as his home. We generally cut grass on the same day. I saw him days before at his job. Yes, he was all about discipline in life. I will surely miss him.
