Johnny Dwayne Richardson, age 83, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, passed away on August 12, 2025. He was born on October 5, 1941, in Rosedale, Oklahoma, to Albert and Irene Richardson. Johnny spent most of his life in and around Pauls Valley, where he built a life full of love, family, hard work, and community involvement. On February 12, 1960, he married the love of his life, Jeanette Ward. Together, they shared a devoted marriage surrounded in faith, love, laughter, and strong values. Four years and eight months later, a baby whom they had prayed for was born. They named him Shon Keith. Jeanette wanted a name spelled different from all others. He began his working years at a local filling station before moving on to Wackers Warehouse and later Halliburton. Johnny eventually found his longtime career with Garvin County District 2, where he learned the necessary skills and obtained the qualifications to operate the rock trucks and heavy road machinery. Johnny finished his working career as the lead road foreman over the Garvin County District 2 road crew members. Johnny was a man deeply rooted in his community. He was a proud member and deacon of Beaty Baptist Church in Pauls Valley. Johnny was a fire fighter and board member with the Rush Creek Fire Department. He was known for his love of racing cars and spending time with Jeanette at the McSwain Theatre and the Pauls Valley Opry. Johnny had a heart for the simple joys of life. He prioritized those joys by checking on his cattle, piddling around the farm, singing, and striking up a conversation with just about anyone, even with those across the fence line. His stories and songs will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He had a passion during his mid-life era for helping lead the Beaty Baptist youth group with Jeanette. Johnny also spent a large amount of his time coaching youth baseball teams, where his son, Shon played and pitched for the team. Above all, Johnny found his greatest joy in being a husband, father, grandfather (PaPa), and great-grandfather (PaPa). In his eyes, Presley Shae was the ultimate gift from God. He loved and cherished every moment he spent with his, one and only, granddaughter. Life tends to throw us curve balls. Those curve balls end up teaching us grace, love, patience, and laughter. Each little curve ball represents a great-grandchild. From the oldest to the youngest, delivers a variety of characteristics. One can only imagine. Johnny leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and community spirit that will live on through his family and friends. Johnny is survived by his son, Shon Richardson and wife Tammie; Granddaughter, Presley Richardson; Great-Grandchildren, Greyson, Kellan, Scarlett, and Scout; Brothers, Ricky Richardson and wife Angie, Larry Richardson and wife Suzie; Sister, Linda Jensen; and a host of nieces and nephews. Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Richardson; and parents, Albert and Irene Richardson; Brother, Jerry Richardson; Sisters, Gloria Prince and Joyce Sweetman. Memorial services for Johnny will be on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Beaty Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma with Glenn Alley officiating.
