Johnny Shipman, passed away on Saturday August 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 75 years old.
Johnny loved the outdoors. Some of his most treasured memories are those spent with family and friends in nature. He was an avid fisherman and also loved camping and race car driving. Johnny had a truck driving career that spanned 41 years, driving for Judd and Sims Propane Gas Company. Johnny was proud to be a member of Echo of Mercy Baptist Church. He loved his family and church family very much. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Johnny never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face.
He is preceded in death by his parents; John V. and Minnie Bell Petty Shipman, brothers and sisters; Sue Bell Waters of Atlanta, GA, Robert Leonard Shipman of Cleveland, TN, Peggy Ann Carroll of Calhoun, GA, Walter Vando Shipman of Dalton, GA, Roy Shipman of Dalton, GA, Robert S. Shipman of Chatsworth, GA and Clara Bell Shipman Holland of Dalton, GA.
Johnny is survived by his wife; Edna Williams Shipman, sons; Jason Shipman of Ringgold, GA and Jeff Scott of Soddy Daisy, TN., step-daughters; Dedra Hardin and Deb Tucker (Shane), brothers and sisters; Dennis L. Shipman of Calhoun, GA, Luke Shipman of Dalton, GA, Mary Ruth Ogles of Beaverdale, GA, Janie Ann Stover of Calhoun, GA and Robbie Ann Pickett of Dalton, GA along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, August, 27, 2025 at 2PM in the chapel of Poole Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel White officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 5-9PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Claude Laughter, Richey Holland, Raymond Holland, Randy Waters, Ray Waters and Tucker Townsend.
