Johnny Bob Smith went to his heavenly home on November 7, 2025. He was born November 25, 1930, near Winters, Texas, to Enoch E. (Jack) and Melisa Guy Smith. On September 24, 1950, he married the love of his life Voleta Witcher who preceded him in death after 72 years of marriage.
Johnny Bob was a life-long Winters Blizzard, graduating from Winters High School. After graduation he worked at Roy Young's gas station for a short time before working at the Winters State Bank. He retired after working 37 years as Winters ISD Business Manager.
Preceding him in death were his wife and parents, grandson Ryan Smith, son-in-law Mark Briley, sister Veda Mae Vosburg and her husband Roger, and brother-in-law Elmer Phillips.
He is survived by his children Dwayne (Veronica) Smith of Burnet, TX, Bruce (Melanie) Smith of Pickerington, OH, and Brenda Giles (Lynn) of Iola, TX. He is also survived by grandchildren Angela (Jimmy) Patton of Baird, TX, Brian (Mendy) Briley of Borden County, TX, Mylea (Mason) Nations of Riga, Latvia, Mikayla (Brennan) Boggs of Lafayette, IN, Marissa (Blake) Tippie of Reynoldsburg, OH, and step-granddaughter Jennie (Shawn) Reimund. Great grandchildren include Kadin Patton, Brylee Patton, Colbin Briley, Logan Briley, Brianna Briley, Chandler Nations, Oliver Nations, and Zoey Nations. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Phillips and a host of friends including a special neighbor and friend Beth Wortham who shared her love and kindness with Voleta and Johnny Bob.
Johnny Bob loved boating, water skiing, snow skiing, traveling and camping. Most of all he loved his wife, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends at 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Winters Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 13, 10:30 A.M., at First Baptist Church of Winters where he was a member. Services are under the direction of Winters Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brian Briley, Colbin Briley, Logan Briley, Jimmy Patton, Kadin Patton, Mitchel O'Dell, Chad Briley, and Jim Matthews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Winters or the Winters Volunteer Fire Department.
