Johnny Andrew Tillery, Sr., of Troy, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2025, at the age of 78. A service to honor Johnny’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Green Hills Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow in Veteran’s Park with military honors. Pallbearers will be the Elders from Collegedale Church of Christ, John Huggins, Danny Barron, Frankie Sims, Thad Pittman, along with other church members Rick Cochran, and Bill Fuller.
Born June 28, 1946, in Troy, Alabama, Johnny was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, friend to many, and an avid Alabama fan. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered. He touched the lives of so many with his generosity and warmth. His legacy will live on through the countless memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lynn Tillery; his children, Johnny Tillery, Jr. (Kris), Melinda Tillery Allen, Mario Tillery, Nikki Shaver (Morgan), and Teresa Sneed-Bradley. Johnny was a proud grandfather to Bethanie Tillery, Cody Tillery (Alex), Robin Tillery, Matthew Tillery, Logan Allen (Kristen), Morgan Allen (Karen), Delaney Allen, Casey Craft (Blake), Selena Warren, Zoey Warren, Jordan Owens, Roman Tillery, Kimberleigh Tillery, Arlen Sneed, and Braxton Bradley. He was also blessed with several great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy. Survivors also include his siblings, Alice Henderson, Judy Tillery, Jimmy Tillery (Petie) and several nieces and nephews.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Martha Tillery; his children, Cindy Stephens and Jeffery Stephens; and brothers, George Tillery Jr. and Jerry Tillery.
The family appreciates all the love and support during this time. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Tillery family.
