Johnny Weaver Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Dec. 11, 2025.
Johnny Weaver passed away peacefully with family at his side on December 8, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Born on June 8, 1943, to Harley and Dolores Weaver, Johnny grew up in Marengo, Ohio. He had five beloved siblings, Albert, Harley, Jr., Dave, Barbara and Jack. Johnny thoroughly enjoyed sharing stories of his upbringing, fun had with his siblings and neighborhood friends, and at times, being mischievous. Fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors were common, often bringing home random animals to surprise his mom with later someplace in the house.
Johnny graduated from Marengo High School in 1962. He remained active with alumni activities throughout the years and enjoyed reminiscing and catching up with friends and former classmates.
Johnny married his high school sweetheart, Judy (Slack), and together raised 3 children, Trent (Tina), Eric, and Michelle (Stephen) Marko. John & Judy enjoyed spending time and being involved with their four grandsons, Taylor, Trevor, Gus & Noah. Most of the fun took place "at Memaw & Papa's house".
Johnny took great pride in the home and property he built and grew from bare land. Buying the land from a close neighbor & friend, drawing the house plans himself, building the house with help from family & friends, planting thousands of trees, creating a campground near the creek, turning his land into a peaceful haven for wildlife and those who enjoy it. He opened his property to host Scout troops, wildlife game release from the Department of Wildlife, and to family & friends for all to explore. Johnny loved to be creative for kids to have fun on the farm, often creating things such as obstacle courses, mud volleyball, haunted woods, massive snow slides and pulling kids on sleds behind the tractor. He bought a golf cart and loved to take folks, young and old, for rides around the property. At any point in time, when weather permitted, John loved to be outside.
Johnny started work with HPM while still in high school, first as an apprentice, then getting hired full-time. He spent his entire 43-year career with HPM, working in various positions but primarily as a hydraulic draftsman. His skills and expertise were used off the clock, as well, designing building plans for several family & friends' homes and businesses. Johnny developed several close friendships with coworkers and enjoyed catching up with them in his retirement.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Dolores Weaver; wife, Judy; son, Eric; brother, Dave; brothers-in-law, Richard Slack and Duane Slack; and sisters-in-law, Zaney Weaver and Barbara Slack.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025, from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. with a memorial service immediately following at Snyder Funeral Home, DeVore Chapel located at 637 State Rt. 61, Sunbury, OH 43074.
