Eric Schott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Dowds Chapel on Dec. 11, 2025.
Eric L. Schott, age 73, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on December 8, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 29, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Frederick and Ruth Ellen (Shaver) Schott.
Eric earned his bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1974. His passion for technology and problem-solving guided a long and meaningful career, including more than twenty years with Penn State University, from which he retired in 2023.
A man of faith, Eric was a devoted member of Gay Street United Methodist Church. He found joy in the outdoors and loved hiking and bike riding. He was also an enthusiastic ham radio operator and could often be found tinkering with gadgets, always eager to understand how things worked. Eric was also an accomplished photographer and left historical treasurers for the family to enjoy forever.
Eric will be remembered for his curiosity, kindness, and the gentle way he shared his interests with those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (McNeal) Schott, his son, Everest (Tegan) Schott of Cresson, Pennsylvania, two step daughters, Tiffany (Nathan) Rhoads of Mount Vernon, Kearsten Tieche of Sandusky, grandchildren, twins Evander and Finnegan Schott, Zayden Schott, Taylor Latham, Ryann (Ryan) Rhoads, Baylie Tieche, Teagen (Victoria) Tieche, great grandchildren, Parker Latham, Avery Latham, Revy Rhoads, and Apollo Tieche, a brother, Dave Schott, and a sister, Criss Lysinger, both of Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, beginning at 2 pm at the Ohio Eastern Star Home Chapel. Rev. Christopher Liberati will be officiating.
