In Loving Memory of Johnny Wooten, "Poppy" – 72, a beloved husband, father, Poppy, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, at his home in Chickamauga, Georgia. Johnny lived a life dedicated to his faith, love, and a deep sense of humor.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Lisa Wooten, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, mutual respect, and steadfast support. Johnny stepped up and truly embraced the role of a father to his son, Isaac Painter and his daughter, Jessica Rodriguez. His deep love for his family was further exhibited through the special bond he shared with his grandchildren; Cailey, Trevor, Brayden, Ella, Julianna, and Brennan; whom he loved more than ice cream.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Wooten and Bonnie Adamson and his brother Larry Wooten.
Survivors include his step mother, Geneva Wooten, sisters Sherrie Coy and Delane Mapes; brothers Kenneth, Vaughn, Stacey, and Brian Wooten.
Having honorably served his country with pride, Johnny's dedication to his time in the Air Force is a commitment that will forever be remembered.
Johnny fought his battle against COPD for 9 long years. Despite spending much of that time in and out of the hospital, he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, he had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed.
We say goodbye to an extraordinary soul. His unwavering faith as a mighty man of God and his exceptional friendship made him a beacon of inspiration. We celebrate the life of a truly one-of-a-kind person who left a lasting mark on our hearts. His life and memory are a blessing to all.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2024 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Josh Hollifield and Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
