Jeremy Louis Wooten, age 41, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Born on Friday the 13th - because of course he was - April 1984, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Russell and Melody Wooten, he graduated from Jackson High School in 2002. Jeremy’s beautiful blue eyes, captivating smile, loving heart, and generous spirit leave us heartbroken in loss, yet comforted by the belief that he is now in God's welcoming arms. He now joins in eternal rest with his grandparents, Aunt Vickie, his godfather Uncle Bill, his cousins Heather and Abby, two Uncle Mikes, his best friend Buddy Burdge, and cherished family friends Uncle Lou and Aunt Marie.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Russell Wooten (Charo) and Melody Wooten-Thompson (Berry, deceased), with whom he lived in his final years and who cared for him with unwavering love; three older brothers, Russell, Nick, and Jason (Jamie); five children, Jaylynn, Jayden, Jeremy, Jarrod, and Jacob; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; godmother Aunt Sandy Eick; nephew Lorenzo Louis Wooten; his close friends Janine and Steve Anthony, who prayed with him and loved him fiercely; and numerous other beloved family members and friends.
Jeremy had a deep love for animals and the unshakable devotion required to support Cleveland sports teams—proof that hope truly springs eternal. He was a passionate fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed playing baseball, football, and wrestling during his school years. He loved watching his kids play sports, dominating family game nights (or at least pretending to), losing sleep over fantasy football drafts, and savoring his mom’s roast beef dinners—because no one else’s ever quite measured up. He was raised Catholic and later attended Rivertree Christian Church, where he was baptized in the river in 2005.
A memorial celebration of Jeremy’s life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at FBC Massillon (20 6th Street E, Massillon, OH 44646), with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Calling hours will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., followed immediately by the service. Casual attire and favorite team jerseys are encouraged—bonus points if you show up in Cleveland Browns gear and still manage to smile. He will be interred at Brookfield Cemetery at a later date.
Jeremy is finally at peace, his earthly suffering behind him. May he rest in God's eternal embrace.
