Rita M Marchand

Rita M. Marchand, age 84, of North Canton, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025. She was born December 18, 1940 in Canton, the daughter of the late Herbert and Lucille (Colopy) Schalmo. Rita was a 1959 graduate of Jackson High School. She had been employed with Giant Eagle for several years before retiring. Rita was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was an avid baker and was a caregiver to those around her that might need help.

On October 10, 1964 Rita married David Michael Marchand who survives. Also surviving are her brothers, Don (Carol) Schalmo, Paul (Judy) Schalmo, and John (Kelly) Schalmo; sister, Roseann Bowser; brother in-law, Jim Thewes; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, RIta was preceded in death by her in-laws, Leroy and Louise Marchand; sister, Dorothy Thewes; and brother in-law, John Bowser.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel (Pittsburg Ave.) from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at St. Paul's Catholic Church (214 s. Main St. North Canton) with Reverand Father Simon Mino Celebrant.
