Jon "Harold" Garrison, a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in Alamosa, Colorado, at the age of 71. Born on October 20, 1953, in Fort Collins, Colorado, Jon's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for golf, and his love for the great outdoors.
Jon's early years were spent in Fort Collins where he attended Poudre High School, graduating in 1972. He was a well-rounded student, actively participating in ROTC, and showcasing his athletic talents in football, baseball, and golf. His love for golf followed him throughout his life, leading him to become a life member of the PGA. Jon furthered his education at The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, earning a Bachelor of Science degree that would serve as the foundation for his future endeavors.
After college, Jon returned to his hometown, where he worked at various golf courses, sharing his knowledge and love for the game as a teaching professional. His creative spirit shone through when he designed the Mountain Vista Greens Golf Course, a testament to his dedication to the sport. Jon also imparted his expertise to others at the Pro Golf Discount Store in Fort Collins, where he was respected for his friendly demeanor and intelligent approach to teaching.
Jon's interests extended beyond the green; he was an avid hunter and fisherman, actively involved with organizations such as the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. His competitive spirit thrived as he played in numerous golf tournaments, enjoying the camaraderie and challenge they offered.
Upon retiring from his golf career, Jon continued to impact his community through his work at Heritage Christian Academy in Fort Collins. As a bus driver and custodian, Jon was known for his friendly nature and strong work ethic, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Jon is lovingly remembered by his wife, Terry, and their children, Teresa (Jason) Bell, Jed (Kacey) Garrison, Sam (Amber) Garrison, and his brother, David Garrison. His legacy continues through his ten adoring grandchildren.
Jon is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth, and his brother, George Garrison.
Jon "Harold" Garrison lived a life marked by kindness, intelligence, and creativity. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his influence will continue to be felt on the fairways, in the fields, and in the hearts of his loved ones.
