Jon S. Martzahl, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023. Jon was born on August 4, 1947, the second of six sons of Robert and Celia Martzahl. Jon graduated from Kaukauna High School Class of 1965 and the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Math. Jon also studied one semester at the University of Wisconsin- Madison where he majored in cribbage and sheepshead.
Jon married Paula Hubers on August 2, 1969. They celebrated 53 wonderful years together. At their home in the country, Jon and Paula loved watching and feeding all of God’s creatures. They also loved spending time outdoors and fishing together.
Jon served in the Wisconsin National Guard and was employed by Great Northern Container for 33 years as Director of Manufacturing Services.
Jon was a man of many skills. He was the go-to guy for advice and guidance for his younger brothers. With his background in mathematics, he could solve almost any problem. He could fix anything. Jon had many passions and he excelled at all of them, including woodworking and making furniture, playing cards with family and his special group of friends, deer hunting, musky fishing on North Twin where he caught several fish over 45” and shooting trap, for which he won many awards.
He also liked to cook, especially at family holiday gatherings and up north. He will always be remembered for his baked beans from scratch and homemade french-fries.
Jon is survived by his wife Paula Hubers, whom he loved dearly and brothers Ron (Karen) Martzahl, Rob (Vickie Miller) Martzahl, Barry (Cheryl) Martzahl, Mark (Virginia) Martzahl, sisters-in-law June Richards, Carla Townsend (friend Jack) and Susan Hubers. Jon is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved to play with and create loving nicknames.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Celia Martzahl, brother James, father and mother-in-law John and Marian Hubers, brother-in-law John Hubers, sister-in-law Patricia Hubers
A celebration of Jon’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 22 at Holy Cross Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna with Father Don Everts officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
