Jon (Jack) Parmiter (Mr. P.), 79, passed away at home December 27, 2021, in Conneaut Lake, PA. Jon was born May 31, 1942 in McKeesport, PA to the late Ruth Adeline Ulm and James Harry Parmiter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother James Darlin Parmiter (February 2019) and many pets over the years including his beloved cat Smokey. He is survived by daughter Mechel Ruth Golenberke (Robert), Conneaut Lake; son, Jon Kyle Parmiter, Virginia Beach, VA and their mother, Karen Lynn Barlow Parmiter, Conneaut Lake; five grandchildren, Allyson Elizabeth Golenberke Graham (Lucas), Lindsay Victoria Golenberke both of Meadville and Chase Nicholas, Jacob Kyle and Faith Emily Parmiter and their mother Audra Parmiter, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is also survived by a sister, Suzanne P Sturni, wife of the late Lance C. Sturni, Somerset, PA, sister-in-law, Nancy L. Parmiter, Philadelphia, PA; niece, Kelley Suzanne Duppstadt (Craig), and nephews, James V. Parmiter (Jan), David B. Parmiter (Elaine), Jonathan A. Opfar (Patti Jo), many loved great nephews and nieces in addition to his close friends and neighbors, Christopher, Amanda and Zach Parker and caretaker Lori Huber.
Jon graduated high school in 1960 from Elizabeth Forward. He is a 1965 graduate of Edinboro University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and earned a Master's degree in Education as well. He touched many lives (some with his paddle) as a teacher for 33 years with the Conneaut School District at both Conneaut Lake (as head teacher) and Geneva Elementary. He worked many summers doing construction projects with his good friend Dio Yost in conjunction with working at Page's, both at the Gas Station & Tire and Auto Supply. He was also a regular fixture at Garland's Garage.
He was a member of Pine Lodge #498 in Linesville where he was a five time past Master. He was also a member of the Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie and New Castle Consistory.
He had a love for his garage and of all things old, especially Buicks. He enjoyed cooking and Eddie's footlong hot dogs delivered by Mike Kiser. He was generous and kind. He was a friend to many and had a gift for finding humor in every situation. Although his smile and laughter are already missed, he asked that his funeral be a "happy occasion" as he recently commented: "I have had a good life. Don't ever feel sad for me."
Calling hours will be Friday, December 31, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake. The Pine Lodge #498 Masonic service will follow at 5 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Jack's Life with Rev. Robert Klingler, officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to Masonic Pine Lodge #498, 101 E. Erie Street, Linesville, PA 16424 or the Zem Zem Shrine Temple, 2525 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
