It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Virginia Ruth Burchfield announce her passing into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
Virginia was born on September 12, 1933, in Greenville, PA, the daughter of Gerald and Elda (Cannon) Campbell. She graduated from the former Penn High School in 1951. Virginia attended Sharon Business School and worked at Greenville Steel Car. She was also employed in the bookkeeping department of the former Niagara Manufacturing and Distrusting Corporation in Adamsville, PA.
Virginia married Marvin E. McHale on New Year’s Eve in 1953. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1974. Subsequently, she married Donald C. Burchfield in 1997, he survives.
Virginia was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Meadville for over 60 years and a member of the Meadville Garden Club. She loved golfing in her early years and was a member of The Country Club and Iroquois Club.
In addition to her husband of 28 years, She is survived by a son, Mark E. McHale of Canfield, OH; a daughter, Ann L. Galford (Gary) of Meadville, PA; two grandchildren, Jacqueline E. Galford of Pittsburgh, PA, and Eileen R. McHale of Canfield, OH; one sister, June Fry of Greenville, PA; and one great-granddaughter, Raegan Elizabeth Brougher of Pittsburgh, PA.
Virginia was also preceded in death by seven sisters, infant Marie Campbell, Blanche Beatty, Kathryn Foulk, Rose Kenjevari, Helen Moore, Dorothy Adams, and Shirley Clark; one brother, John Campbell.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM in ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE ROAD, CONNEAUT LAKE. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church, 145 S. 5th Street, Conneaut Lake with Rev. Sam Heagy, officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests a donation be given to the Benevolent Fund at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 Park Avenue, Meadville PA 16335.
