Jon Reed Smith (Hank) of Hagerstown, Indiana peacefully slipped away on October 26, 2025. He was surrounded by family he loved more than a last second Notre Dame touchdown. He was an Army veteran, and longtime employee of Pope Testing and Engineering in Mobile, AL, where he met his wife of 27 years, Charlotte. He was extremely passionate about many things in life including football and horses. What he was truly most passionate about was being a great father to his 4 children and his 6 grandchildren. This truly incredible man will be sorely missed by everyone, but his legacy will live on through all of those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold L. Smith and Agatha Smith and sibling, Roxanne Longworth.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Smith; children, Jason Smith, Jennifer Henderson, Victoria Smith, and Juliana Smith; grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Reed Zambor ,Noah Stabler, J.J. Higginbotham, Presley Smith, and Bryson Nelson; siblings: Mike Smith, Sharon Page, Rick Smith, and Ron Smith.
A 10:00 a.m. graveside service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday, October 31, 2025. All attending the service should gather in the parking area between the funeral home and cemetery entrance by 9:45 a.m. for the funeral procession.
