Jon Tory Obituary

Jon N. Tory, 62, of rural Riverside, Iowa, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at his home under hospice care, surrounded by his family. Services celebrating Jon’s life will be held at a later date to be announced. Jon Neil Tory was born Oct. 9, 1960, in Iowa, the son of Paul and Beatrice (Baines) Tory. Following graduation from Independence, Iowa, High School, he enlisted in the United States Marines. He has spent most of his entire life in Iowa. He started making dentures for the company he worked for, then eventually owning his own business doing so, later on he taught how to make them at Kirkwood for a few years. He has worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City for many years. Jon enjoyed much in life, traveling with his wife, Diana on their Harleys; his woodworking, working on cars, watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Mark Martin; and of course spending time with his family. His family includes his wife, Diane Nation-Tory; children, Shawn Tory, Michelle Anthony (fiancée Nate Plotz), Sheldon Tory and Thomas Tory; stepson, Scott Nation; sister, Kathy Herman (Ric); brothers, David Tory (Yvonne), Steve Tory (Judy), and Joe Tory. Jon was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mike Tory.
