Jonathan Brett Barton

Jonathan Brett Barton, age 54, passed from this life on March 28, 2025. Brett was born in Manchester, TN on March 24, 1971. He was preceded in death by grandparents Mitchel and Catherine Jones and J.B. and Edith Barton, and aunt Shirley Barton Bell. He is survived by his parents Pat and Doris Barton, sister Jenna Barton Lowry and husband Zach Lowry, step-nieces Abbi and Cara Lowry, uncle and aunt Bill and Barbara Barton, and several cousins.
Brett taught 6th grade Language Arts at Donelson Middle School in the Metro Nashville Public School District; he was a wonderful and talented teacher. He received his BS degree from MTSU while majoring in Psychology and Education.
Brett was musical and artistic throughout his school career. He played tuba in the Westwood Junior High, Coffee County Central High, and MTSU bands. At Westwood, he loved being a member of the Westwood Singers, and he greatly enjoyed traveling and performing in Europe with the Singers and Director, Evans Baird. In high school, he served on the Annual staff as a photographer for the 1989 Yearbook, and graduated in the top 10% of the 1989 graduating class.
Brett enjoyed watching the Titans and Vanderbilt football games, as well as attending Nashville Predators games.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN, with funeral services following at 1:00pm Thursday in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Tracy officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma.
Pallbearers will be Derek Frisby, Shannon Gahan, Zach Lowry, Cam Tracy, Kenny Uselton, and Jeff White.
