Jonathan Michael Corley

Jonathan “Jon” Michael Corley, a dedicated public servant, gifted communicator, and beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 31, 2025, in Franklin, Tennessee.

Born in Nashville on September 3, 1985, Jon brought intelligence, humor, and fierce loyalty to every chapter of his life. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, deploying twice on combat tours—first to Iraq and then to Afghanistan—where he led an infantry team and earned promotion to Sergeant, along with the Army Commendation Medal for exemplary service.

After returning from the military, Jon built a career rooted in purposeful communication. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Lipscomb University, graduating with honors and helping launch the school’s Student Veterans Association, serving as its first president. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Communications from Johns Hopkins University and completed the General Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jon's career spanned Capitol Hill, government agencies, trade associations, and eventually his own firm, Clarity Communication. Across each role, Jon was known for his strategic insight, mentorship, and ability to lead high-performing teams with empathy. He thrived in high-pressure environments, where his poise and values-driven leadership helped organizations navigate complex political, regulatory, and public challenges.

More than his professional accolades or military honors, Jon will be remembered for his heart. He was a loyal friend, a devoted dog lover, and someone who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—being with his dog, Dutch, and late dog Winston, watching the Yankees, and spending Saturdays tuned into Ohio State football. Winston even became a Capitol Hill legend, winning the first-ever “Top Dog” competition in D.C. against entrants from Congress and beyond. Jon was never happier than when he had a dog at his side and his team to cheer for.

He had a sharp wit and a quiet generosity that made an outsized impact on those lucky enough to know him. Whether he was mentoring a colleague, supporting a veteran, or simply making someone laugh at the exact right moment, Jon had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gena Arlen McClure and Cary A. McClure; his father and stepmother, Joseph Russell Corley and Jackie Corley; his siblings, Barbara Kay Corley Blom (Ketil Blom) and Joel Russell Corley (Meredith G. Corley); and his cherished nephew and nieces, Isaac Emmanuel Blom, Vera Louise Corley, and Sloane Marie Corley.

Jon lived with purpose, served with courage, and loved with a full heart. His loss leaves a deep void, but his legacy endures in every life he touched.

Touch A Life Kids Foundation, which provides holistic, long-term care to vulnerable children in Ghana, West Africa.
