Jonathan Joseph "Jon" Gavin

Jonathan Joseph Gavin (Jon) 49, of Hackensack, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 27, 2025. The family asks that Jon be remembered for his easy going spirit and great sense of humor. Jon was born March 25, 1976 in Suffern, NY, to his loving parents, Alice (Kelly) Gavin and Robert Gavin, Sr. Jon was raised in Haverstraw, NY, and graduated from North Rockland High School. He worked as a Rotary Crewman for Clear Channel Outdoors for over 22 years. Jon's proudest accomplishment was being a dad to Cody and Hana Gavin, who he will continue to love forever. He also felt blessed to be loved by his fiancé, Nicole O'Brien. They bonded quickly as Jon battled cancer. Jon characterized his time with Nicole as some of the best years of his life. He loved her deeply. Jon was passionate about his hobbies (ex: Darts, fishing, boating) and he loved the many friends he made along the way. He especially found peace while boating on the Hudson River with his family and friends. Jon was also a member of the Haverstraw Elks Lodge and the Admiral's Cove Marina Boat Club. He truly enjoyed all the people he connected with wherever he went. Remaining to cherish Jon's memory are his children: Cody & Hana Gavin (Rina Koshiba); fiancé: Nicole O'Brien (Declan & Lexi) & father: Robert Gavin Sr (Tara); Siblings: Robert Gavin, Jr (Christine), Barbara Gavin-Green (Robert), Jennifer Reilly (Kevin), Emma Gavin & Mary Gavin; Nieces, Nephews & Great Nieces: Caitlyn (John & Kayleigh), Casey (Mike & Lily), Erin, Daniel, Meghan, Thomas (Ryleigh) & Kerri. Preceding Jon in death are his Mom, Alice (Kelly) Gavin, Grandparents: Margaret & Joseph Gavin, Alice & Joseph Gericitano. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 10 AM to 12 PM at George M. Holt Funeral Home, 50 New Main St, Haverstraw, NY 10927. The family will be having a private service and burial starting at noon. Jon will be laid to rest next to his loving mother, Alice.
