Timothy Shawn Welsh

Timothy Shawn Welsh of West Haverstraw, NY died peacefully on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025 at the age of 59.

Timothy was born in Suffern, NY to Inez (Chiaffi) Welsh and Thomas Welsh on September 30, 1965. Timothy was raised in Stony Point and graduated from North Rockland High School.

Throughout his life, Timothy worked many jobs in the construction field as a laborer and machine operator. He worked for many years at Raines & Welsh Contracting, then for himself.

Timothy married the love of his life, Amy Dewe-Mathews on August 30, 2021. The years he spent with her were some of his happiest. Timothy never had any children, but was an avid animal lover, always having dogs. He treated them better than most people treated their children, from his first dog Sport who would follow him to North Garnerville Elementary School and wait for him at the end of the day to walk home with him to his most recent dog-child, Wolfgang, who misses him terribly.

Timothy was a great conversationalist, having the "gift of gab." He was able to sell ice to an ice maker, or shoes to a shoemaker. He made many long-lasting friends throughout his life, and many new ones along the way as he was so easy to talk to.

Timothy is survived by his wife, Amy Dewe-Mathews, brothers Thomas (Holly) Welsh, Gary (Joanne) Welsh, Louis (Janet) Welsh, Vincent Welsh, Paul (Lisa) Welsh, and sisters Patricia Francke, and Enis (Thomas) Giannone, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews, and his dog Wolfgang.

Timothy is also survived by his loving parents-in-law Joann and Paul Dewe-Mathews, of Naples Florida, who cared for him deeply and were always there for him when he needed their spiritual guidance.

Timothy is predeceased by his parents Inez and Thomas Welsh, in-laws Deborah Matone Welsh (Thomas), Mark Francke (Patricia), and Susan Salerno Welsh (Vincent).

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 from 4-8 pm at the George M. Holt Funeral Home, 50 New Main Street, Haverstraw, NY, Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025 at 10 am at St. Peter's & St. Mary's Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY followed by internment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Route 9W, Haverstraw, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
