"Today is a brand-new day, I want to lift up a brand-new song.
(Hallelujah).
Something with lyrics right, mighty, and strong.
Something to make the people sing along. (Hallelujah)
It's a brand-new day.
It's a brand-new day.
It's a brand new 'J'
We GOD it We love it!
- Poem by John Gerst
Jonathan Michael Gerst went home to be with our Lord on January 9, 2025, after blessing this world with his beautiful spirit for 34 years.
John's entrance would immediately light up a room, and his unique style of fun and charm was endearing to everyone he met. He was a devoted Godly man spending many hours of his life in prayer. He cared deeply for other people and always looked for the good in everyone. He was known for his vibrant personality and being true to himself. Bravely, he embraced new adventures in his life with enthusiasm.
John was born October 20, 1990, to Michael and Jan Gerst, raised in St. Charles, Missouri. He attended Francis Howell High School, where he earned varsity letters in Wrestling and Swimming. During that time, he become a Lifeguard.
John had many friends around his own age in the neighborhood. They loved to play video games and roam freely around the neighborhood having fun together. John described the good times he had with friends and his sister Angie and brother Stevie growing up as "out of this world"!
John was a wonderful big brother (Achi) * to Stephen and Angie, always being inclusive, kind, and looking out for them. He was a loyal and devoted friend, and in the words of his best friend from childhood (Clayton), "My buddy, my love, my life." He greatly enjoyed family vacations growing up, especially Disney World.
After high school, John attended Lindenwood University on a full academic scholarship and completed his bachelor's degree in Information Systems Technology. He developed a deep love for music and became an accomplished drummer, playing in several bands. He then pursued his dream of producing music. He traveled throughout the world visiting many different countries while working on his music. He had the soul of an artist.
Even as John bravely fought his battle with depression, he always helped and encouraged others in their times of need. He encouraged us to 'remember the good, and live on how you do, do not remember anything that causes you grief.'
Johnny, your siblings could not have asked for a better brother, and your parents could not have asked for a better son. We love you so much and will greatly miss you. In God's good time, we will meet again, never again to be apart. "Hallelujah"
"The Lord Bless you and keep you" (Numbers 6:24-26)
*(Achi – a Hebrew informal term of endearment that translates to 'my brother or bro
A private burial will take place with John's family at a later date.

May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved, cherished, and treasured by the people's lives he touched and the memories created by those around him.

Every time I saw him a family event, he lit up the room. He talked to everyone, including people he didn't know. No one was a stranger. He was genuinely himself, that's what I admired most Mel-

I cherish the memory of John borrowing my shirts, scrunchies, headbands, and skin and hair care items, not just because it showed he felt at ease with me, but also because it reminded me that he regarded me as a sister, a bond I had always longed for. His presence in my life was a blessing, and I'm grateful that he treated me with the love and affection of a sibling. His joyful spirit and bright smile continue to inspire me.
