Jonathan Thomas Miles was born April 24, 1993 in Kansas City, Missouri and passed from this earth at home in Overland Park, Kansas on November 29, 2023. Despite tremendous strides in battling the health challenges he faced during his latter years, those challenges ultimately prevailed. Jonathan was deeply loved and will always be remembered as a gentle soul, known by all for his kind heart and big, beautiful smile.
Jonathan was raised in Overland Park but enjoyed traveling and held the belief that “home is where you hang your hat.” He had adventures in Colorado and Mexico, and ventured as far away as South Korea and United Arab Emirates in the Middle East. He is blessed with friends from Indian Valley Elementary School, Oxford Middle School and Blue Valley Northwest High School. He had an active youth, playing soccer, baseball and basketball with his school buddies, but especially enjoyed skateboarding and snowboarding in his leisure time. He had a talent for music, playing the viola, bass guitar and he loved to woo the ladies and entertain his niece and nephew with his soothing voice while strumming his acoustic guitar. Jonathan enjoyed his adventures in Boy Scouting as he attained the rank of Life Scout, tackled high adventure trips to Philmont and Double H Ranch, and served on camp staff at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. He was a Warrior and Firebuilder in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Jonathan will be greatly missed by his parents Brian and Sandy Miles, his big brother and idol David (and sister by marriage, David’s wife Allison), his treasured nephew and niece, Ben and Amelia, his grandfather Vic Miles, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who were all such special parts of his life. He was preceded in death by his brother and hero Nathan Miles.
In recognition of Jonathan’s recent recommitment to his faith, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite place of worship.
