Jonathan Woodell Obituary
A native of Guilford County, he was the son of Nathan Burke "Woody" Woodell, Jr. and Gene Stratton Deal Woodell, both deceased. He retired as Chief Bosun Mate for the Coast Guard. Jon was an active member in the Civil War and WWII reenacting community. Dedicated to the preservation of military history, over the years Jon was a member of 1st Virginia Infantry (Civil War), long standing member of 4th U. S. Regular Infantry (Civil War), and a founding member of 2nd Mountain Div, 136th Gebirgsjager (WWII).
Survivors include three children, Elizabeth Erin Woodell, Kellie Jean Guenthner, Sam Elliott Woodell and three sisters, Jennifer Nivolo, Kathleen Harris (Phillip), and Nancy McCracken. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Burke Woodell and brother, Warren Edward Woodell.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington.
