On January 4, 1963, Lue Jean Anthony and Jessie Lee Mitchell were blessed with a son, Jonathon Lee Anthony, in Muskegon, Michigan. With heavy hearts, we announce that Jonathon passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, surrounded by love.
In his younger days he played football for the Port City youth league and then went on to play for the Muskegon Big Reds. Jonathon was a proud graduate of Muskegon Senior High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. He went on to earn college credits at Muskegon Community College and served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves National Guard for six years. Jonathon dedicated twenty years of his career to Federal Mogul as a skilled machinist in camshaft manufacturing until his health began to decline.
A true family man, Jonathon cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially during family cookouts where laughter and joy filled the air. He had a passion for football, fishing, and old cowboy movies, and would often find peace in listening to his favorite jazz artist, Kenny G. A chess enthusiast, he found great pleasure in participating in tournaments, enjoying the challenge and camaraderie that the game provided.
Every Sunday was special for Jonathon, as it was a time for cherished meals with family, particularly with his beloved Aunt Veola, with whom he shared a delightful tradition of enjoying rotisserie chicken and salad. Despite the challenges he faced with his health, Jonathon faced life with dignity and resilience. With the help of Aunt Von's skilled hands, he maintained his impeccable appearance, always ensuring he was prepared with his favorite cologne.
Jonathon gave his life to Christ at an early age and he loved the Lord.
Jonathan's legacy is woven into the lives of those he loved-the bonds he forged, the lessons he taught, and the joy he brought to everyday moments. His memory will forever be honored by family and friends, whose lives were enriched by his unwavering kindness and a kind word with those who needed it. His resilience in the face of adversity was an inspiration, and his gentle nature made him beloved by all who crossed his pass.
Jonathan leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, Christopher (Mary) Anthony of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Mark Webster, and Tony Williams of Muskegon, Michigan, five sisters, Arlene Anthony-Hall, Angela (Louis) Donley, Dorothy Brown, Latasha Nash and Donella Johnson of Kankakee, Illinois.
