Jonathon Stuart Pratt

Jonathon Pratt, age 70, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was born on September 7, 1955, in Neubrucke, Germany.

Jonathon was a proud graduate of Fort Knox High School in Kentucky, Class of 1973. He went on to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy, graduating in 1977, an achievement that marked the beginning of a lifelong connection to the sea. In continued service to his country, Jon fulfilled two years in the United States Navy Reserves, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade in 1983.

Committed to both maritime service and the law, Jon later earned his Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University. He practiced maritime law for a period of time before returning to life at sea, where his true passion resided. Jon spent more than 20 years as a captain of container ships with Maersk Shipping, earning the respect of colleagues and crews for his leadership, professionalism, and deep knowledge of the maritime world.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and James Pratt, and his brothers, Bill Pratt and Bobby Pratt.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Helm and Nancy (David) Bruhn; his brother, Jim (Cory) Pratt; his companion, Janet Carbone; cherished nieces and nephews; and many others who’s lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life honoring Jon’s remarkable journey and legacy will be held later in the spring. Details will be announced at a later date.
