Mitchell Family Funeral Home - MarshalltownJorell (“J.J.”) Joseph (Frohwein) Handorf, born on February 12, 2002, in Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on November 27, 2025, in his hometown. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, whose radiance touched the lives of many during his brief, yet impactful, journey.
Jorell embarked on his first job at Arby's before moving on to gain valuable experience at Lennox and Menards. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Hy-Vee, where he was known for his friendly demeanor.
A proud graduate of Marshalltown High School in 2020, Jorell's interests were diverse. He was an ardent supporter of the New England Patriots-especially Tom Brady playing as well as Rob Gronkowski and enjoyed immersing himself in the world of gaming, particularly on his X-Box. Jorell held a special place in his heart for his dog, Jaxxon, with whom he shared countless adventures and cherished moments.
Jorell is survived by his mother, Jillissa (Johnson) Handorf; father, Tom (Mary) Handorf; brothers, Maxxon and Lincoln Handorf; grandparents Dan (Jean) Johnson, Sandy Ridout, Don (Gaye) Frohwein, Kathi Kerr, and Lynn (Claire) Handorf; great-grandmother Jean Johnson; uncles Jeff Frohwein, Joe Frohwein, Jer Ridout, Tim (Danae) Handorf and aunt Denise (Matt) Kemp as well as step-brothers Carson and Sam Ducar. He also leaves behind many great aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and of course, his loyal companion, Jaxxon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jason Frohwein; grandpa, Brian Kerr; and great-grandparents- Clayton Johnson, Ray and Ruth Frohwein, Edward and Madeline Lindsey, Cliff Stalzer and Rose Mann, all of whom will be remembered fondly.
The visitation for Jorell Joseph Frohwein Handorf will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM, both at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home located at 1209 Iowa Avenue W, Marshalltown, IA 50158. He will be laid to rest at the Center School Cemetery near Marshalltown alongside his dad, Jason and grandpa Brian. Memorials may be directed to his family.
Jorell’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, as he brought joy to their lives with his warmth and kindness. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
