JORGE CELAYA Obituary

Jorge V. Celaya, 67, of El Centro, passed away on November 7, 2022, in Brawley. He was born on June 24, 1955, in Calexico.
He was raised in Mexicali and Calexico. He attended De Anza Jr. High, Calexico High School, and Imperial Valley College. He worked in retail from the age of 17 for many years throughout Imperial County. He went on to work for California Department of Corrections, where he retired after 20 years. He enjoyed taking trips to the beach and playing bingo with friends. He always looked after his family and had two cats that he loved the most.
Jorge was preceded in death by his father, Guillermo O. Celaya; mother, Maria Luisa Celaya; and brother, Guillermo V. Celaya.
He is survived by his sons, Adrian Celaya of El Centro and Christian Celaya of El Centro; daughter, Vanessa Celaya of San Diego, CA; brother, Alejandro Celaya of El Cajon, CA; two granddaughters, one great-grandchild, niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, commencing at 6 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary, 1820 Imperial Ave, Calexico, CA 92231. Service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 135 Fourth St, Calexico, CA 92231, with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico. A small reception will be held at the San Juan Diego Parish Hall, 101 E. Fourth St, Calexico, CA, once services conclude.
