Jorge Storer, age 78, passed away peacefully and went to meet his Lord and Savior on January 21, 2026, in
Lafayette, Louisiana. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jorge lived a life defined by service, strength, laughter, and love.
Jorge proudly served in the United States Army for four and a half years, including two tours in Vietnam(82nd and 101st Airborne) as an infantry paratrooper. His bravery and dedication were recognized with numerous medals and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM), Vietnam Campaign Medal (VCM), and two Overseas Service Bars. His service to his country was a source of lifelong pride and honor.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Dawn B. Storer, and his constant companion, Buddy, their beloved Shih Tzu. Jorge also leaves behind a loving extended family: Lourdes Storer Diaz; Eileen Storer Diaz Arias; Alejandro Arias; Sebastian Arias Storer; Freddie Storer and Mary Diaz, Jr.; Roger and Barbra Bertrand Jr.; LaTrell and Dale Boudreaux; Kim and Sam Bergeron; and Bruce and Judy Tyler. He is also survived by his cherished Godchildren, Luke David and Shantell Bertrand, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews whom he held in deep regard.
Jorge was preceded in death by Freddie Storer Alcoba; Aida Alcoba Storer; Jorge Benjamin Storer Hernandez, Sr.; Roger Bertrand, Sr. and Clema D. Bertrand (father and mother-in-laws); Mitchell and Juanita David (brother and sister-in-laws); and Daniel DeForest (brother-in-law).
Jorge will be remembered for his quick wit, his boisterous laughter, and his rare gift of never meeting a stranger. He was easy going, fun-loving, and deeply loyal-a friend to all and a confidant to many. A remarkable cook, Jorge blended his Puerto Rican roots with Cajun tradition, mastering Cajun cuisine and earning his place among the very best cooks. His kitchen, like his heart, was always open.
A man of Christian faith, Jorge believed deeply in giving back and held Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital and Wounded Warriors Project close to his heart. In lieu of flowers, he would have preferred donations be made in his name to these worthy and meaningful causes.
The remaining family would like to thank Doctor Fernando Ruiz and Hospice Of Acadiana for their kind and loving care that they gave Jorge at the end of his days.
Jorge's legacy lives on in the stories told, the meals shared, the laughter echoed, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
