MANSFIELD: Jørgen Bo Christensen passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born October 8, 1953 in Thisted, Denmark to the late Karl and Kristine Christensen. During his schooling in Denmark, Bo enrolled to be a foreign exchange student in the U.S. attending Clear Fork High School in 1972.
Bo was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle - roles he embraced with his whole heart. On May 17, 1985, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Marie Young. This year, they celebrated 40 years of marriage - four decades filled with love, laughter, and a legacy of kindness that touched everyone around them. Bo and Kathy's eternal spirits are once again reunited.
After high school, Bo stayed in Mansfield to fulfill his dream of starting his own business. His first job was with Joe Behr Plumbing and Heating where he learned the trade that would become his own. In 1984, he opened Bo Christensen Plumbing, Heating and Electric. Bo's hard work over 25 years reflected his dedication and passion to serving the greater community in the way he knew best.
Retirement didn't slow Bo down as he continued to provide advice (even when not asked) and a helping hand to anyone who was in need. Only this time payment was in the form of brownies, cookies, or a simple smile.
Bo had a natural gift to befriend anyone who was willing to listen to him discuss any topic. Someone always seems to have a story about Bo. He forged countless lifelong friendships over many, many, many rounds of golf. The type of friendships where friends are now simply family in our eyes.
Grandpa Bo could never say no to his grandchildren. He traveled across the country to be present at every birthday, graduation and significant event. When visiting Grandpa Bo, there were unlimited laps around the yard on the tractor with a grandchild on his lap. Grandpa Bo was subjected to endless splashes, throws, and day-long swims in the pool, all with a smile on his face. Rumor has it, M&M's and Dairy Queen became the dinner of choice when Grandpa Bo and Grandma Kathy were babysitting.
Bo also cherished their home away from home in Naples, Florida, where countless golf, pool and beachside memories were made with those he loved most.
Bo is survived by his loving children, James (Karissa) Christensen, Robert Christensen, Daniel (Laurann) Young, and Andrea (Tim) Sigler. His cherished grandchildren: Taylor James; Abigail and Isabelle Christensen; Jamison, Camden, and Brenton Young; and Alexander and Serena Sigler.
He is also survived by his three siblings, all of whom reside in Denmark: Lisbeth Christensen, Michael (Karen) Christensen, and Henrik (Lena) Rønsholdt. Dear sisters-in-law Debra (Joe) Moritz and Lisa Young. Nieces and nephews: Jonas Christensen, Nanna Kirkegaard, Lasse Kirkegaard, Morten Rønsholdt, Peter Rønsholdt, Asger Rønsholdt, Joseph (Liz) Moritz, Bryan (Emily) Moritz, and Shawn (Emma) Moritz, Tyler (Amy) Young, and Alyssa Young. Many great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Bo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy in May 2025, his parents, in-laws Lloyd and Noreen Young, and brother-in-law Robert Young.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Primrose Retirement Community. Bo quickly befriended and entertained staff and residents during his brief time there. Thanks to their kindness and abundance of patience to listen to Bo, he was able to feel at home.
The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to assist Bo's family with private funeral services. Graveside services will be held in Shauck Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to your favorite local library to continue honoring his beloved wife, Kathy.
