Jose Miguel Balderas, 101, of Batesville passed away on December 2, 2023, surrounded by his family at his residence.
He was born on September 28, 1922, in San Miguel De Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico to Encarnacion (Hernandez) and Vicente Balderas.
He married Margarita Rivas on April 9, 1968 in Crystal City.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years of Batesville, five daughters, Juana Balderas Corona of San Miguel De Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, Elizabeth B. Sanchez of Batesville, Dianna B. Diaz and husband Alonzo of Uvalde, Eva B. Esparza and husband Mario of Batesville and Maria “Margot” Balderas and companion Robert Galindo of Batesville; son, Jose Miguel Balderas Jr. of Del Rio; Step-son, Rodrigo Amaya of San Marcos; twenty-nine grandchildren, Julian B. Sanchez Jr., Edgar B. Sanchez, Erica Sanchez-Rosas, Jesse B. Sanchez, Emily B. Sanchez, Nicole B. Diaz, Louie B. Villarreal, Joe Michael Villarreal, Natalie Rae Esparza, Mario Esparza Jr., Blanca E. Hernandez, Yvonne Balderas, Brandy Marie Vargas, Jose Miguel Balderas III, Nadia A. Balderas, Daniel C. Balderas, Ines C. Balderas, Sergio C. Balderas, Jose Miguel C. Balderas, Diana C. Balderas, Elisa C. Balderas, Fernando C. Balderas, Nicolas C. Balderas, Soledad C. Balderas, Concepcion C. Balderas, Juana C. Balderas, Guadalupe C. Balderas, Jose Jesus C. Balderas and Javier C. Balderas; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren nieces and nephews and provider of eleven years, Irma Galindo of Batesville
He is preceded in death by daughter Elena B. Cabrera; parents; grandchildren, Santiago C. Balderas, Antonia C. Balderas, Bernardo C. Balderas, Gregorio C. Balderas; brothers, Atanacio Balderas, Cruz Balderas, Sotero Balderas, Jose Balderas and sister, Guadalupe Balderas.
Visitation will begin on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Batesville. Interment to follow at Batesville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Julian B. Sanchez Jr., Edgar B. Sanchez, Jesse B. Sanchez, Nicole B. Diaz, Louie B. Villarreal, Joe Michael Villarreal, Jose Miguel Balderas III and Nicolas B. Corona.
Honorary pallbearers are Fernando C. Balderas and Raul Balderas.
