Jose Antonio Barroso Sr.

Jose Antonio Barroso, Sr., 86, of Parlin, NJ entered eternal life on January 25, 2026, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, NJ. Jose was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, before settling in New Jersey with his beloved wife, Lydia Barroso, and raising their seven children. He was a longtime resident of Lakewood, New Jersey, and lived the rest of his days in Parlin, NJ. Jose was a member of New Jerusalem Pentecostal Church in Perth Amboy, NJ.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Francisca Barroso; his two sons, Michael and Mitchell Barroso,; and his siblings: Juan F. Barroso, Bievenido Barroso, and Alejita Nieves.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 64 years, Lydia Barroso; his children: Maritza Gonzalez, Jose Barroso, Jr., Marisol Maldonado, John Barroso, and Nilda Howell; his eight (8) grandchildren: Erica Jarquin, Rebecca Alvarez, Adalysse Switzer, Angelica Yanez, Alissa Maldonado, Joshua Maldonado, Jo-Vanni Smith, and Shanesse Smith; and seven (7) great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Franco, Aubrey Franco, Sofia Alvarez, Camila Switzer, Liliana Switzer, Charlotte Jarquin, Serena Yanez, and JayVaun Smith. He is also survived by his siblings: Robert Barroso, Luz Toledo, Isabel Lopez, Malta Ramirez, Virginia Barroso; and many loved nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ, followed by a funeral service at Noon officiated by Rev. Flores. Entombment will follow in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
