Jose Francisco Gonzalez Perez (Chano) MAY HE REST IN PEACE

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts and uncles.
Jose studied to be a teacher in his native Guatemala at Escuela Normal Pedro Molina in
Chimaltenango Guatemala from 1983 to 1988. After graduating, he emigrated to the
United States in 1989 and quickly learned to speak English and worked as a Teachers
Aide in the Martin County School District in
Stuart, Florida. He moved to Cleveland, Ohio
and while studying linguistics at Cleveland State University, taught his native language
Q'anjob'al in the Linguistics Department. From 1993 to 1997, he worked at the
Cleveland Museum of Art as assistant director of shipping and receiving of fine art
pieces and developed an appreciation for the works of Da Vinci and Van Gough. From
1998-1999, he worked as a teacher's aide and computer lab assistant in the Martin
County School District in Indiantown, Florida. From 2000 to 2006 He worked part time
as an ESOL and Spanish Instructor in the Palm Beach County School System From
1999 to 2007 he worked as a maintenance person for the Town of Jupiter Parks and
Recreation Department and in 2007 was promoted to the Town of Jupiter Code
Enforcement Department and worked as an officer until 2015. From 2016 to 2017, he
worked in Code Compliance for the City of
Lake Worth, Florida. Jose decided in 2017
that we wanted to work for himself and took an online course at the South California
School of Interpretation. He then began contacting several interpretation companies and
began working as a free-lance Q'anjob'al interpreter over the telephone and as a
certified courtroom interpreter for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
His education includes: Linguistics-Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community
College-ESL and Basic PC Curriculum, Palm Beach Community College, Microsoft and
Certified Public Safety Telecommunications, PC Professor Computer Repair, Florida
Atlantic University Code Enforcement levels 1-4 and South Florida School or
Interpretation.
He will be remembered as a kind, funny and intelligent man and will return to his family
in Guatemala to rest in eternal peace. We will all miss you so very much Jose
Francisco.
