Jose Leitao

Jose' Manuel Leitao, 83 years of age, born on February 22, 1940 in Po', Portugal passed away after a well fought battle with Cancer. Predeceased by his father, Jose Leitao, mother Maria Beatrix, Sister Rosa and Brother Carlos. He passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Elizabeth, NJ.
Jose was born in Po', Portugal near Bombarral. He, his wife and 4 sons immigrated and settled in Kearny, NJ on April 24, 1982, and was joined by their American-born daughter in April 1987. Jose worked for many years as a laborer for Local 472. He unfortunately was disabled after a massive stroke in May 1991. His passions were cooking elaborate and delicious meals for his family and friends, and he was also known as an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 55 years, Maria (Belita) Nee Poseiro, and his children Victor (Elizabeth), John, Nelson (Dawn), Nuno (Sonia), and Ana Paula (Jillian). And 9 beautiful and loving grandchildren, Stephanie Trindad(Pedro), Briana, Victoria, Emally, Ezrah, Max, Valentina and Amelia. And one beloved great grandson, Eric Miguel Trindad. He is also survived by his sisters, Maria Pereira and Isabel Leitao, along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm at CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading, NJ 07064. Cremation will take place at Rosehill Crematory on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 privately.
