Warwick, RI – Regina R. (Giroux) Leitao, 98, died Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Saint Elizabeth Green House Homes in East Greenwich. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Leitao Jr.
Born in Warwick on October 24, 1926, to Napolean and Lodina (Martin) Giroux, she graduated from Aldrich High School and lived in Warwick for 94 years. For over 30 years, Regina worked as a clerk at the John Hancock Life Insurance Company offices in Providence and North Providence.
When not working, she enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. Regina also loved traveling to New Hampshire to ski, hike, and shop at the outlets. Mostly, Regina cherished time with her family and beloved dog Puff, with whom she spent many of her days.
Whether you referred to her as Mom, Grandma, Grandma Jean, Regina, Reggie, Jean or Jeanie, she will be remembered as a woman who would do anything for her family and friends and who showed kindness to everyone.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Leitao, with whom she lived, and by her son John F. Leitao III (wife Tammy). She was a beloved Grandma of five grandchildren Jessica Wyrostek (husband Brian), Stephanie McCluskie (husband Sean), Marissa Leitao, Brianna Leitao, and Ryan O'Rourke, and of her four great grandchildren Isabella, Cacia, Maddox and Max. Regina was the sister of the late Eva Lambert, Melina Giroux, Ethel Thornley, Matilda Colvin, Laura Hope, Irene Kilduff, Napolean Giroux, and Wilmer "Pete" Giroux.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 8:45 AM from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 22 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
